Grace is one of the transcendent laws. It dissolves all lower frequencies and brings you huge blessings. If someone acts graciously towards you, both of you receive blessings. Acts of Grace do not have to be huge. They often consist of little everyday things that give you a warm feeling.
I went to see Les Miserables, which I really enjoyed. The part that stayed in my mind was the act of grace when the priest forgave the hero for stealing the silver and in fact gave him more. That is true big grace.
As I was waiting to go into the film I bought a drink and sat down in the foyer to await a friend. I put the drink down while I opened the straw. A man sat next to me and my carton leapt off the padded seat onto the floor pouring liquid everywhere. He apologised but I said it was my fault for putting it down there. Nevertheless he graciously insisted on buying me a replacement.
While he was standing in the queue I asked the man collecting tickets for the screenings where I could find someone to mop it up. He was more concerned about the loss of my drink and said, ‘First allow us to replace it for you free of charge.’ He took me to the front of the queue and I was given another. It was all done very graciously before he fetched the cleaning station.
I explained to the kind man who was standing in the queue and we were able to exchange a smile, leaving us both feeling good.
A potentially embarrassing situation was transformed. I went into the film feeling warm and happy.
