July's Cancerian new Moon falls on July 15 in the United States and July 16 in Australia. This is a big new Moon, and one that will see many things changing. We have Venus about to go retrograde and it is conjuncting Jupiter and squaring Saturn - a contradiction in terms. Mercury and Mars are exactly conjunct smack opposite Pluto, so there are likely to be some explosive events, whether on a personal level or on the world stage, things are set to be interesting, to say the least. We have the Moon's north node traversing the Super Galactic Center, so we will see a lot more synchronicities, magical moments and manifestations of our thoughts, dreams and ideals. Chiron is trining this new Moon, so we have a wonderful opportunity to listen to and observe the stories we tell ourselves, and, it could be time to rewrite some, perhaps a lot, of those stories.

The Sabian Symbol for the new Moon is Cancer 24: A WOMAN AND TWO MEN (OR A MAN AND TWO WOMEN) CAST AWAY ON A SMALL ISLAND - the following is from my book The Sabian Oracle: 360 Degrees Of Wisdom

Commentary:  ‘A Woman and Two Men (or a Man and Two Women) Cast Away On a Small Island’ is an image of people being or living in close proximity. They are ‘Castaways’ and are somehow “stuck” with one another for the time being. They could be thrown together by circumstances or by choice. Regardless, being on a ‘Small Island’ leaves no way of concealing behavior or keeping secrets and things get found out, sooner or later. It can reflect situations that are out of balance with the normal harmony of relationships. Things need to be dealt with carefully and sensitively.

Oracle: The people seen here may be “locked-in” to some situation, environment or relationship. Their desires may be vacillating from one extreme to the other. There could be a desire to get away from those who have conflicting views or are trying to confuse things. There may be uncomfortable and even impossible choices to be made. At this time, however, removing one’s self from the situation may not be possible. The value of this experience is to attempt to create new understandings and standards in order to turn the imbalance to everyone’s advantage in whatever way possible. It may be impossible, but it is necessary to try. This Symbol can also reflect personality issues and confusions that are happening on an inner level. Symptoms of ill health, unhappiness, mood swings and temper tantrums can be an indication of an inner battle. This may be because of a change in relationships, beliefs or ideals. It may be a hidden memory or inner childhood issue that is rising to the surface and now manifesting in split relationships or similar problems. Take some care to work with the issue, as battling it out can lead to problems. Working out each person’s position in the situation will help you to decipher what’s really going on and who belongs with whom.

Keywords: Feelings of being fenced in. Too little room to move. Lack of privacy. Relationship triangles. Claustrophobia. Isolation. Love affairs. Too many people or having no one. Having to schedule people’s needs. Competition and rivalry. Polygamy.

The Caution: Not seeing the whole picture. Fighting over one’s “territory”. The specter of “someone else”. Jealousy. Sexual infidelity. Misleading relationships. Being shut out of relationship. Fickleness. Not being able to choose. Having too many people to consider.

Relationship 'triangles' are not necessarily just about intimate relationships; these kinds of triangles can occur in families, at work, any way or anywhere that there are more than two people involved. A mother or father in law could be intruding with their influence or presence - it can be where kids bring in conflicts that wall off one parent against the other (or vice versa). There are many ways that this Symbol can show itself.

The New Moon symbolizes: A time of new beginnings and realisations. It's like a birth after a time of gestation or being 'in the womb'. Here, the light begins to return and we can see new beginnings and possibilities. A new Moon means that the Sun and the Moon are both together - bringing a synergy of their energies together. The new Moon is a perfect time to set your intentions for the future. This period is wonderful for planting seeds of whatever kind. What do you want to manifest in your future? Whether you write it down, sing about it or just hold the thought forms in your mind, doing this at the new Moon can realise some fabulous results around the things that you want to draw into your life, especially as the Moon's north node is on the Super Galactic Center, which is a powerhouse placement for bringing about the results that one desires. Of course, we have to watch our thoughts.

The Karmic Condition (the degree before) of this new Moon is Cancer 23: THE MEETING OF A STUDY GROUP OR LITERARY SOCIETY

This Symbol shows the gathering together of those of like mind in order to exchange or share ideas and information. In society, the search for meaning should always be made in order to enrich not only yourself but those around you. Finding the best way to describe something creates the opportunity for greater access by the collective. This can show websites, magazines, newspapers, books; any place that people gather together in order to give an objective view on what’s happening in the culture in order to gain a better understanding of what makes society tick.

In the light of the new Moon being on the 'relationship triangle' degree, it may be necessary to make sure that you share the same ideas, visions, mindsets, ideals, etc, as someone else. If you're not seeing eye-to-eye on life in general, perhaps that is why you (or another) may not be getting along.

Keywords: Shared higher knowledge. Print media, libraries. The written word. Committees. The movie Dead Poet’s Society. Work shopping and brainstorming. Critics and criticism. Diaries, records and minutes of meetings. Newspapers and news media. Consulting with learned people. Talkback radio. Sharing beliefs and ideas. The mirrors of society. Discussions. Letters to the editor. The meeting of the minds. Reviews.

The Caution: Falsifying of ideas. Propaganda spread by the media. Intellectual smugness. Excluding anything non-establishment. Chatting instead of doing. Intellectual bickering. Analyzing every piece of information until it loses its inherent message. Being told only what’s safe to reveal. Disinformation.

Mercury and Mars are conjunct (together) on the same degree - Cancer 15: A GROUP OF PEOPLE WHO HAVE OVEREATEN AND ENJOYED IT

It may be that you, or someone else, have overindulged in material objects or success. For now, enjoy your good fortune. Beware, however, as sometimes “feeding frenzies” can turn into issues that need to be sorted out later. Problems can be experienced through overspending, overeating, putting on weight, etc. Constantly overeating or overspending, or over-doing things on any level, in an attempt to feel better can lead to issues of self-worth, greed or debt. There is possibly a need to curb this indulging. Realize when it’s time to return to work, and to be productive instead of just swallowing, or “consuming” more and more. In fact, there may be a need for “tightening the belt”. Commodities, like food, etc., may run short now due to extravagance or excess.

With Mercury and Mars together here, there can be a feeling of excitement, full-on ambition, anger, frustration, dismay, upset, satiation, etc. Responses to situations can be a little overblown, leading to overstatements all the way to outright arguments.

It may be a good idea to remember to say grace in thanks for the good fortune you do have, no matter what your financial situation.

Mercury and Mars are conjunct exactly opposite Pluto, which can be an explosive combination. It can lead to breakthroughs and/or breakdowns. With Pluto on The Children's Ward In A Hospital degree and Mercury and Mars on A Group Of People Who Have Overeaten And Enjoyed it, there may be a strong need or possibility of healing. Pluto opposite this conjunction make things feel more urgent, more immediate, more necessary.

Keywords: Consumerism. Communal cohesion through indulging in the senses. Satisfied hunger. Commercialism and the longing to own things. Eating disorders. Feeling that one deserves everything on a platter. Overweight. Bad nourishment. Eating binges. Indigestion. Obsession with ownership. Deprivation. Exploiting resources. Overspending. Gluttony. Taking on too much.

Venus is on Leo 30: AN UNSEALED LETTER HAS VITAL AND CONFIDENTIAL INFORMATION

This Symbol shows a message that is, or needs to be, spread either by writing it down or speaking it. There can, at times, be a desire to reveal one’s inner feelings; however the opposite can also be true; you may feel very confronted by the thought of wearing your heart on your sleeve. However you transmit this ‘Vital and Confidential Information’, it needs to be done from the heart and with integrity. When this is done the right people can see and benefit from it. Be aware of sharing information that is not yours to share or that breaks confidentiality with someone who trusts you.

Keywords: Wearing your heart on your sleeve. Shared thoughts and feelings. Declaring what needs to be said. "Dear John" letters. Laying one's self on the line through writing things down. Diaries. Letters. Penmanship. Messages of intent. Things said out loud. Confidences.

The Caution: Playing games with information. Concealing for the purpose of deceit. Blurting things out. Betrayal of confidences. Gossip. Revealing what shouldn’t be revealed.

Venus symbolizes: Relatedness, cooperation, what attracts you. The experience of sweetness, beauty or delight. Social interactions, love, friends, how you reach out to people. Feminine persona, relationship with mother and females. Money, possessions, sense of values.

Venus and Saturn are tightly square to each other. This can bring realizations or events that cause breakups, breakdowns, changes in attitude, finalisations to situations or relationships. It can also reveal unexpected debts and the need to 'pay the piper'. There can also be commitments made in relationships, with people making very positive moves towards a future together. Saturn, as usual, calls the shots and events coming out of this square depend very much on what is going on for you personally - things can go either way, separations or stronger decisions about commitments.

Also, Venus and Jupiter are conjunct and are going to be moving together as Venus retrogrades soon. This, and Venus and Saturn squaring each other, can bring about a desire for expansion, spending, doing bigger and better things, traveling, all kinds of big enterprises.

So, through the agency of Venus, we have a push-pull type of energy where we might not be sure if we're coming or going. What is most likely to transpire is the desire or need to jettison some things so we can have others. What has outgrown your life, what is old or outworn,

Venus is also moving very slowly at the moment and will be on this degree for several days as it is turning retrograde. This brings an even stronger emphasis to whether or not one reveals one's thoughts. Relationships, money issues, issues to do with beauty and the feminine are all going to brought to the fore and some issues can no longer be ducked.

Jupiter is on Leo 25: A LARGE CAMEL CROSSING A VAST AND FORBIDDING DESERT

This Symbol implies the need to push ahead in difficult times, going alone and coping even in the most difficult circumstances. It also shows being self sufficient, or someone with a big journey to complete. You may find that your situation has been like an arduous journey, but there could still be further to go. Be confident that you have the reserves to survive and the endurance to succeed. Although you may like the company and assistance of others, in the end you can really rely only on yourself. Self sufficiency and mental self-control are necessary as is a commitment to get to the other side of your issue.

Provisions that nurture and satisfy. Camels, caravans, finding the oasis, mirages, water, deserts. Stamina and fortitude. Crossing to the other side. Endurance. Thirst. Survival against the odds. Transport. Bad backs. Back packs. Cargo. Saddling up.

The Caution: Not preparing properly and running out of reserves. Feeling weighed down and in danger of not making it through. Not seeing the big picture. Lack of sustenance. Big plans with no back up. Taking on huge tasks when one perhaps shouldn't. Being daunted by huge projects. Mirages that confuse objectives.

Jupiter symbolizes: The big picture, expansion, exploration, aspirations, religious and philosophical ideals, issues to do with traveling, foreign lands, people and traditions, culture, education, generosity, luck, abundance, support, optimism. Insight through knowledge and wisdom.

This Symbol implies the need, or the ability, to be an advocate for the rights of others, particularly youngsters or children, and being prepared to engage with others in order to bring about a desired result. You may find yourself standing-up for those in your care, or for those who need your care, whether it is your children, your ideals or creative pursuits. Even if they sometimes deserve rejection, punishment or judgment, the solution will possibly be found not in being defensive as in simply asking for consideration, mercy and leniency. This can also show bringing a healing to others, whether it’s through their own actions or through finding the healers that are needed to affect a cure.

Uranus is on Aries 21: A BOXER IS ENTERING THE RING

This Symbol shows that there may be a temptation to take on issues, even to fight, but it needs to be with dignity and regulation. You may feel a need, or the urge, to step up to the plate and take something or someone on. There are rules to follow and often others will be end up being the judge of the final outcome. Make sure you possess the skills and training to defend what you believe. Remember that sometimes you need to back off if you're not winning a contest. Question: is someone on the attack or the defense?

Keywords: Physical or psychological self - assertion and determination. Attack or defense? Fighting for emotional, psychological or physical space. Being seen as a person of strength. Uranus is going retrograde on this degree and it will be on this degree for a few months, so the issue of stepping up to what you want may involve having to step into the ring.

Neptune is retrograde on Pisces 10: AN AVIATOR IN THE CLOUDS

This shows being able to stay on course, not allowing distractions or difficult or confusing issues to deter you from your destination. Perhaps you need to rise above and transcend the more nitty-gritty realities of earthly existence and its difficulties, just be aware that you may not be seeing the complete picture very clearly sometimes. If you take special notice, you may be able to see through illusions, seeing past the surface appearances to things that others miss. You may be able to rely on your spiritual, creative or intellectual skills to take you above and beyond those things that others have to deal with. However, you may also be evading the real truth.

The “Toys” in the “Hospital” can be healing tools of any kind – it doesn’t matter what type or modality; if they bring relief and joy to someone’s life, they fill a need. There is also a need for caring shows of affectionate concern. Simple things done in times of healing can bring great relief to all. Sometimes it’s a smile, a special treat or soothing words of encouragement these are more healing than one can imagine.

This Symbol implies the desire or need to be with others who share similar feelings, aspirations, goals and beliefs. There is a common focus here amongst the “Group” that opens up to creative and enlivening possibilities. There may be the feeling of being ‘out there’, in the ‘wilderness’, and you may be in some way, whether you’re miles from anywhere or you’ve been bought together by something very unique or unusual. It may be important to keep in mind that you don’t have to go alone; there is a “Group” of people who share the same beliefs and concerns. Gathering with them will lift your spirits. The Moon's South Node is on Aries 4: TWO LOVERS ARE STROLLING THROUGH A SECLUDED WALK

This Symbol speaks of spending time with a lover or loved ones, or, it can show issues of loneliness; wondering where the 'other' is. Being with someone you love and enjoying their presence without rush or pressure is likely to be important, or perhaps that's what you're needing right now. Perhaps it's about being ok just being with that part of you that you never seem to have much time for.
