I spent the morning rummaging through drawers and cabinets looking for something I hid for safekeeping a few weeks ago. Have you done that? Decided to hide something, tell yourself you need to remember where you put it, and then completely forget when the time comes to find it again?

It’s tree-pruning time here in New England and I recently spent an afternoon with Jim, our gardener, learning about how to care for the trees we’ve planted in our yard.

“We must be completely present for what we are doing, without sacrificing or rushing what’s in front of us in order to get to ‘more important’ stuff later. No matter how mundane the activity, treat everything as important and take pleasure in it.

Every year at Week 26, I like to invite you to stop and reflect on the positive changes you’ve made in your life so far. After all, the quality of your life is directly related to the quality of relationship you have with yourself.  When you feel good about who you are, you allow better things – people, experiences, jobs, opportunities, etc., into your life. Taking the time to inventory your positive changes is an important step in developing this stronger relationship.  And it’s a key way to reinforce good habits.
