What if the world were to end tomorrow? Or, what if you had just 6 months left to live? Sometimes it helps to entertain such dramatic questions in order to bring what’s really important in life into focus. Ask yourself what really matters in your life. Ask yourself what you’ve always wanted to do, but haven’t yet done. Then, think about how you occupy your time each da
I’ve seen my share of natural disasters. I was in a major earthquake in Los Angeles in 1987, a huge hurricane in Florida in 2004 and now, last week, I was an evacuee from what became the most destructive wildfire in Colorado history. As I write this, well over a thousand firefighters are working on the remaining hot spots in this 10-square mile forest fire that torched 170 mountain homes. Now that the intense firefighting activity is dying down along with the flames, it has given me pause to reflect.
When people open their hearts to unselfish, unconditional love, a whole new world of possibilities opens. Rather than spending effort avoiding the selfishness of others, they focus on making sure that the way they choose to serve society is done in the best way possible. When people can trust others to treat each other with love and respect rather than as competitors, then everyone gains.
The difference between God the Creator and Infinite Being is one of degree. In Western culture, we think of God as active, as the Creator, as being aware of everything that we do. However, the ultimate state of original consciousness is a state of unchanging perfection. As an infinite awareness or beingness, Infinite Being is behind all things.
Nature is a constant reminder of the principle of abundance. Nature routinely produces more than it needs, thousands of times over. Rather than producing one acorn to grow a replacement oak tree, a mature oak will produce up to 50,000 acorns in a good year, and the tree will keep producing for hundreds of years. That is the natural way. Plants produce thousands of seeds in order to guarantee the survival of their species. That is the natural way.
Spiritual consciousness comes a lot easier when you understand spiritual principles and can, therefore, tune into the spiritual realms of consciousness. Over the last century, the world has experienced a challenge of faith in the Creator and subsequently in religions which have not adapted to the new awareness. Telescopes have expanded our perception of the size of the universe into something so vast that we are challenged to understand how humans on tiny planet Earth can have any significance in such a grand scheme of things.
Fear is the great separator of mind from spirit. While you fear, you are unable to trust your divine origin. It follows that people who pressure you to fear things in life want to keep you away from the power of your inner connection so that they may gain some kind of power over you.
