4th/5th October 2013: New Moon in Libra

Completing the Puzzle

The New Moon occurs at 00:36 GMT, 5th October. Traditionally speaking a Libran New Moon is a time of reflection and peace, but not so this one. A time of reflection, maybe, but peace… not so much! Joining the on-going Sun/Uranus/Pluto T Square, this New Moon speaks of the need to get to grips with what’s really going on in our relationships, so we can be as clear as possible on 11th/12th October when Venus (ruler of Libra) traverses the degree of the 25th May Lunar Eclipse, providing an opportunity to embed some positivity into the issues we were dealing with back then.

It would be tempting to see this New Moon as a bit of a pain, but in fact she’s alerting us to something we’ve overlooked which needs to be taken into account. It may be that we have lost touch with a knowing inside that’s been trying to course-correct us for a while now, or we have missed an opportunity to recalibrate our connection with a significant other and move things onto a different level or in a more constructive direction. Something is missing in our appraisal of a situation, and some quiet reflection at this New Moon may help us identify what it is and act accordingly.

Saturn and Chiron add their penny’s-worth to the process in the form of encouragement to dig deeper in these enquiries than we may at first feel inclined. We are not talking here something obvious, otherwise we would have spotted it already. This New Moon and her cosmic allies point to the fact that the most important piece of the puzzle is often the bit that got swept under the sofa in an over-zealous moment of cleaning up. It’s nearby but hidden.

We’re oblivious to its presence but it’s vital to a satisfactory outcome. It is in its hidden-ness that it becomes the most important piece. As the jig-saw nears completion its value increases commensurately. Nothing is more irritatingly dissatisfying than a puzzle with one piece missing, never to find its place and create a satisfying whole. It is to save us from just such dissatisfaction that the cosmos alerts us now to the missing piece, in the hope we can locate it and reap the rewards of doing so accordingly.

So this New Moon speaks to us of a gap to be filled, a possibility as yet unrealised and a connection in our lives which could benefit greatly from discovering this missing piece. It is most likely a connection with someone else, but all relationships begin with ourselves, and it may just be our inner relationship which is in need of the greatest adjustment. Whatever we find amidst our contemplations at this New Moon, we can rest assured that in a week’s time we have the opportunity to settle some issues which arose at the end of May. Doing so could liberate us in ways as yet unimaginable, so digging deep as the heavens suggest is well worth the effort now.

Here’s wishing everyone an insightful New Moon.
