These days I feel like I’m getting a Masters degree in dealing with grief and loss, and I hope I’m not depressing you. It’s just that right now I can’t pretend that everything’s okay. Because it’s not.
To begin with, God doesn’t “want us” to experience pain. God doesn’t “want” anything. God experiences GodSelf through us, and knows GodSelf anew in that way. God does not come from “wanting-ness,” but from Total “Havingness.”
How many of us spend our lives searching for peace and trying to find our own little piece of happiness? We look for healing, release and resolution to pain, trauma and other facets of our life experiences as we seek out wholeness and completion within.
Early this morning, I sat staring out my bedroom window at the black silhouette of a lone fisherman casting and recasting his line in the hopes of claiming his treasure from the reservoir below our yard.
Last week in our ongoing series on The Holy Experience we defined it as that moment when nothing has changed, but everything is different. Now this does not mean that we should ignore all suffering, look past all of another's torment, and proceed as if nothing bad is happening in the world. Quite the contrary.
