Being Specific And Ready For New Horizons: The Pisces Solar Eclipse On The Equinox

I always wanted to be someone, but I should have been more specific. Lily Tomlin

Life is a quarry, out of which we are to mold and chisel and complete a character. Goethe

We are what we pretend to be, so we must be careful what we pretend to be. Kurt Vonnegut

For a man to achieve all that is demanded of him he must regard himself as greater than he is. You must see your goals clearly and specifically before you can set out for them. Hold them in your mind until they become second nature. Les Brown

Ordinary people believe only in the possible. Extraordinary people visualize not what is possible or probable, but rather what is impossible. And by visualizing the impossible, they begin to see it as possible. Cherie Carter-Scott

I guess it proves that in America anyone can be. President Gerald Ford (Referring to him being president)

This new Moon in Pisces occurs on the 20th March. It is a major new Moon, the third Supermoon of the year, and, because of when it falls - smack on the Equinox -  and the fact that it is a total solar eclipse, it may just be the biggest new Moon of 2015. This new Moon feels like an enormous emergence into a new way of being, a new way of living, a new and vibrant path on so many levels. PLUS, this period sees the end of the Uranus/Pluto square. We've had seven exact squares between Uranus and Pluto and this is the last gasp. Many will be breathing a sigh of relief. Many will be seeing whole new opportunities are are inherent in this fabulous new Moon.

It is even more fabulous because the new Moon always represents a time of new beginnings, affirmations and possibilities. This one falls on fabulous Sabian Symbols - backing up that promise. It is, obviously, up to us to make those possibilities ours.

From Wikipedia about solar eclipses: A total solar eclipse will occur on Friday March 20, 2015. A solar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes between Earth and the Sun, thereby totally or partly obscuring the image of the Sun for a viewer on Earth. A total solar eclipse occurs when the Moon's apparent diameter is larger than the Sun, blocking all direct sunlight, turning day into darkness. Totality occurs in a narrow path across Earth's surface, and a partial solar eclipse will be visible over a region thousands of kilometres wide.

The following interpretation is from my book: The Sabian Oracle: 360 Degrees Of Wisdom:

This degree shows the ability that we have of projecting an ideal or an image into the future. This can be an image of what, or who, we’d like to become. We can then grow and emerge into that reality. Sometimes we see an image of ourselves that we’d like to emulate or aspire to or become and it is good to have a goal in life, something that can inspire us, and something to work towards. Truly in this life, we can set our sights high and aim for them, as did the ‘Boy’ who looked on the ‘Majestic Rock Formation’ as ‘His Ideal of Greatness’. Having an ‘Ideal’ of how we’d like to be can be great, as long as we are not trying to be something that we naturally or intrinsically are not possible of being.

What is that you ‘Idealize’? What is it that you’d like to project? What image suits the real person inside of you? You may find that you are growing into the ‘Ideal’ that you have imagined and it gives you a sense of pride and fulfillment, assuming you have imagined a positive image. Meditating on a goal or the projection of an ideal can lead to actuality, just be clear about what you really desire in the situation—you just might get it!

Keywords: Concrete manifestation of one's ideals. Enduring truths. Culmination of efforts. Projections of ideal images. Wanting to be "big" and successful. Tutankhamen's mask. Wanting a sense of immortality. Defining one's fate through conscious manifestation. Morphing reality to suit an objective. Ambition. The ability to see life in inanimate objects.

The Caution: Not being at all clear about whom one is or what one can be. Becoming a screen for the projection of other's ideals. Stony faces that show the hardships of life. Hardening of one's personality. Idealizing others therefore losing one's own identity. Holding too tightly onto the past.

A New Moon symbolizes:  The beginning of a new cycle, the birth of something, emergence, clarity, a time of seeding for the future, a time to make conscious decisions about one's future. A time for affirmations and starting new journeys.

The Quest Degree (the degree following) this new Moon is Aries 1 - the degree of the Equinox: A WOMAN HAS RISEN OUT OF THE OCEAN, A SEAL IS EMBRACING HER

New understandings and awareness are coming to light. Whatever is emerging, either in you or around you needs to be accepted, welcomed and nurtured. It’s best to resist the old familiar ways of being or relating as they can pull you back to outgrown and possibly unsatisfactory conditions. Maybe you feel you are not being acknowledged, don’t have a voice or are not being heard. Take heart as comfort and salvation are likely to be found in the most unexpected places. Despite any setbacks, be aware that you possess the power to make the necessary changes in your life. It is time to claim your place or make a mark in this new world. So much potential lies ahead of you. Welcome this new beginning and be fearless in the face of the changes that are coming. Accept the ‘Embrace’ of those who welcome you into this new sphere. It is inevitable that you’ll leave something behind as you move into this new territory. Enjoy the journey and give birth to self-love, self-worth and divine creativity. Let go of the past and emerge into life and love.

I see this degree as finding your voice and finding your feet. After, all, a mermaid has to find both as she comes ashore into the embrace of life and love. This is the degree of the Equinox - we go into a brand new astrological year. What are you bringing into your new life?

Keywords: Cycles starting. Beginnings. Emergence into concrete manifestation. Embracing and honoring the shadow. Recognizing our animal side. Tropical islands or lands. Rocky shores. Seals. Oceans and water. Shedding skins. Transmutation. The Selkie myth. Grounding one’s energy. Stepping between the sea and the shore. Androgyny. Love and its embrace. Finding your feet and your voice. Mermaids.

The Caution: Using masculine power to overshadow emotions. Refusing to move on. Feeling held back by fears and old life patterns. Falling back into previous, unsatisfactory conditions. Dragging others backwards. Immobilizing fear of the unknown. Being just another “fish in the sea”.

Change starts when someone sees the next step. William Drayton

Are you feeling the pressure of thinking too much? Are criticisms of yourself or others leading you away from your true path? Are you traveling towards the light, on your own journey, seeking the things you seek with a pure heart? Or, are you being sidelined by others attitudes, feelings, expectations?

This Symbol shows the possibility, or the need, for passing those tests that life, other people, spirituality, or karma, throws at you. You may find that you are being judged by those above or around you, or, you may be doing this to others yourself. It is difficult to see what people's qualifications to judge are, but this is often the nature of progression through the ranks. People being critical of one another can lead to better behavior, better performances or the like, or, it can lead to feeling judged, violated and intruded upon. It may, at times, seem as though our lives are like lessons; we are periodically “Examined” to see how we are doing on our course. Be careful not to shut yourself away to avoid being seen or having to endure criticism.

Keywords: The ordeal that comes to any initiate for entrance into higher realms of being. Hermits. Tests, examinations, having to prove oneself. Being judged or being judgmental. Being cross-examined. Rarefied atmospheres that demand personal sacrifice. Initiations. Proving courage and purity. Trials. The attainment of knowledge. Apprenticeships. Being a candidate. Finding out how and where one fits in. One-eyed dedication. Trial by media. Cults. Rituals.

The Caution: Refusing advice. Arrogance. People saying "I told you so". Invading other's private space. Hiding away because of fear or social ridicule. Severe trials and tests that strip the joy of life. People assuming they know the truth about others. Fear of failure. Not living up to other's expectations. Narrow mindedness. Harsh treatment. Going without.

Mercury symbolizes: Mind, thought, communication, memory, expression, intelligence. News, exchanges, chatting, conversations, short journeys, connections with others, telephones, emails, siblings, neighbors, the reasoning mind. Day-to-day activities. Cars, keys, small animals.

'The Pot of Gold at the End of the Rainbow' is a wonderful image. 'Rainbows' are said to be a bridge to the Divine. They inspire awe as we gaze at their beauty and the sheer wonder of nature. They can represent boundless promise, and there is said to be a reward, a 'Pot of Gold', to be found at its end. In folklore, elves, leprechauns and fairies are associated with 'The Pot of Gold'.

This Symbol speaks about connecting your inner thoughts with your rational conscious mind so you can communicate the feelings you wish to share. Like the ‘Rainbow’, this is not really about the elusive ‘Pot of Gold’ at its end, but rather it speaks of the wonder the rainbow creates as it links heaven and earth. Rewards will come from creative efforts built on talent and application. Good things sometimes just fall out of nowhere.

Keywords: The promise of riches, in whatever forms these may take. Creative imagination. Goals and ambitions. Alchemy. Splashes of color. Rewards contained. The search for the treasure. Seeking communion with nature and life's bounty. Wealth derived from changing perspective. Talent and beauty. Fantasies. Illusions vs. reality. Fairylands. A golden key will open every lock. Yiddish Proverb

The Caution: Seeking easy, tempting solutions. Thinking that rewards are always just "over the horizon". Thinking that one is never going to get near "it". Elusive success. Forgetting the more immediate things in life. Seeking perfection. Castles in the air. Pipe dreams. Fool's paradise. Every absurdity has a champion to defend it. Oliver Goldsmith

[It's interesting to note, particularly for my Australian and NZ readers, that the 100 year anniversary of the landing at Gallipoli in WW1 is this month. We will be hearing a lot about it here in Australia. The landing at Gallipoli occurred on April 25 with the Sun on this degree - and a lot of widows were born as a result... a lot of loss... and, casting the progressions of the chart of Australia, has, amazingly and mindblowingly, this degree as the progressed Sun.]

With this degree, the 'Widow' is learning some hard-won and valuable lessons through loss. She is mourning at a grave and receiving meaningful insights into the purpose of life. However, the 'Grave' is still 'Open', which shows that in some respect she hasn't had the necessary time or hasn't been able to complete the mourning process and move on with her life. The 'Grave' will only be filled in when she can sincerely say good-bye to the person or situation that has been lost. By continuing to stand at the 'Open Grave' the "burial ritual" cannot be fully accomplished or completed.

Don't let loss beckon you to give up and throw everything away. There must always be a time to grieve, but what is lost is lost and cannot be regained by losing yourself. Know when it’s time to fill in the grave and let go, whether it’s literally letting go of people who have passed away or have disappeared from your life in order to move on. Gather up your energies and move towards new objectives letting go of the old.

Keywords: Gradual realization of the illusion of matter. Letting go of that which no longer works. Purging and burning the past. Giving up past grievances. The passage of grief. Receiving the gifts that loss and separation can bring through time. Grief, divorce, loss. Redundancies. Near-death experiences. Inheritances.

The Caution: Wasting time staring at lost opportunities. Grudges and bad feelings that last much longer than needed. Staring at issues of loss and death. War and its horrors. The feeling that one has no future. People or events that just won't leave one's memory. Hanging on for fear of the future. Empty legacies.

Venus symbolizes: Relatedness, cooperation, what attracts you, sweetness, beauty or delight. Social interactions, love, friends, how you reach out to people. Feminine persona, relationship with mother and females. Money, possessions, sense of values. The things you want or need.

This is an image rich with possibilities. This is such a promising Symbol—it seems limited only by the imagination. How exciting to think that one could be so close to this new place or realm of activity which sounds incredibly enticing on many levels.

This Symbol brings up fabulous opportunities, such as being in beautiful places with your desires met. There can be the promise of happiness, stability and feeling like you’ve arrived. At times, though, you may be right at the point of what you want, but need to make the deliberate action of opening the gate, admitting even to your self what it is that you want. Perhaps you need to knock, showing your intention of wanting in. Maybe you have everything you need - look around. As the 'Gate Opens to the Garden', it leads to potential for growth and rewards.

Of course, it is Mars on this degree, so we may be angsting, or angry, about what this really means for us.

Keywords: Craving happiness. Gardens and their treasures. Trellises and flowing plants. Pathways to bliss. Gates and doors. Unlocking and opening gates and doors. Analyzing your heart's desires. The grass being greener on the other side. Rewards and treasures waiting. The allure of somewhere else. Initiations. Passages to a better life. Acquiring property. Sexual fulfillment. Opening up to life's possibilities and rewards.

The Caution: Feeling or being shut out. Denying yourself the right to just rewards. Wild 'goose-chases'. Being afraid of losing everything. Having everything, but wanting more. Things not being as real as you imagined. Feeling unhinged. Not having the materials to make dreams come true. Issues of possession that separate. Your cup being half-empty or half-full.

Mars symbolizes: Drive, determination or agenda, how you get to your goals. How you express and handle anger, ambition, assertion of self and ability to step forward. The male principle, sexuality, the ability to step up to the plate when one needs to. Fight or flight. It can be crazy-making.

This is a Symbol of the desire to be heard and taken seriously. This 'Human Soul' is trying to find a 'Receptive Ear', someone who will listen to or understand what's being said, perhaps to spur others on to take some kind of action. Something that has been waiting to be 'Manifested', said, heard or realized could come out quite suddenly. This Symbol implies deep realizations that can transform your life. Listening to one's inner voice and heeding its messages can lead you to the next level. Spirit is descending, wishing to make itself known - spiritual messages are wanting to come through into conscious expression. The trick is being able to hear what’s being whispered and translating it into useful information as one can be mislead by ‘voices in their head’ which can be confusing rather than enlightening. The thing is to discern what is useful and what is not.

Keywords: New realizations and impulses. Seeking to have one's voice heard. Messages from the other side. Reincarnation. Channeling information. Spirit descending, wishing to make itself known. Whispering. Passing on news and messages. Seeking embodiment. Transpersonal urges. Cherubs and spirits. Ears and hearing. The urge to accomplish something. Compassion. Manifesting intention.

The Caution: Confusing voices. Signs of instability or madness. Feeling that if one isn't heard, they will miss out. A need to be noticed and acknowledged. Not feeling like one can speak up. Shouting and making a spectacle. Trying to convince others of something. Misleading statements.

Jupiter symbolizes: The big picture, expansion, exploration, aspirations, religious and philosophical ideals, issues to do with traveling, foreign lands, people and traditions, culture, education, generosity, luck, abundance, support, optimism. Insight through knowledge and wisdom.

Saturn is on Sagittarius 5: AN OLD OWL PERCHED HIGH UP IN A TREE

This Symbol implies being able to quietly observe what’s going on around you. Owls can turn their heads right around and very little escapes their attention. They’re not easily detected in the trees as they usually only come out at night. They wait, watch and listen before making their move. The wise “Owl” sees all, seeing what others miss, and keeps very quiet whilst digesting all that's going on. There may be a need to consult with aged wisdom, either within yourself or from without. Emulating this behavior can bring feelings of solitude, but this may be exactly what's needed. This can indicate insomnia caused by thinking or doing too much at bedtime.

Keywords: Wisdom and strength. Evening contemplation. Keeping thoughts to oneself. A wise "sage" type of person. Nocturnal vision. Exalted wisdom. "Night owls". Heightened sight and seeing. Being silent and alert for the slightest movement. The ability to see all around. The spirit of birds. Silent flight. Having acute hearing. Lofty ideals.

The Caution: Smug denial of available wisdom. Someone thinking they know it all. Not wanting to join with others in fun activities. Acting old before their time. Excluding others as being frivolous and unknowing. Waiting for one's prey. Black magic. Always being alone, remote and cut off. Sitting isolated. Saying nothing when one should be saying something. Inability to sleep soundly.

Saturn symbolizes: Authority, rules, discipline and obligation The heavy stuff. What we fear, loss, karma, aging, the establishment, orthodoxy, tradition, status, the concept of time, walls, boundaries, limits, older people, restrictions, patience, conquering difficulties.

'Brightly Clad Brownies Dancing in the Warm Dying Light' is a wonderful and rather mischievous image. 'Brownies' are nature spirits that come to help us with our work. The concept of 'Brownies' has existed in many cultures for a long time. They lived with humans and sometimes they were said to live in the attic. They often helped out in the kitchen; they got the fire going by blowing on it, took care of the human's children and saw that the food was properly cooked. But nowadays, with the use of electric machines and lights, 'Brownies' are disappearing more and more. However it is said some of them still try to stay around. Although mostly associated with housework, we can call on their help in many different ways. Nature spirits are often around us, particularly if we believe in them, welcome them and trust in their presence. They are 'Dancing in the Warm Dying Light' inferring that while intuitive powers are at a real high, the available physical energy may not be; it is sunset, and the close of the day.

This Symbol shows that help, given or received, is always available, especially if you believe it and welcome the assistance that’s offered. You may be tired and in need of help to get everything, or anything, done and a lot may be demanded of you. Have faith that there's often invisible assistance around you. You are always being guided and protected. Open your mind to possibilities and listen to the messages from within. Of course, you could be a ‘Brownie’ for someone else, assisting others when they need it.

Keywords: Reveling in nature. Believing in guides. Fairies and nature spirits. The wonder and awe of nature. The setting sun. Last minute preparations before evening. The psychic magic of dusk. Light that dances. Unseen guardians. Receiving guidance and help. Seeing the invisible. Help at the last minute. Fairy godmothers. Questions of: what is the "real" world?

The Caution: Self-delusions. Missing the true picture of what's happening in the "real-world". Losing the plot. Relying on others, including angels, nature spirits, etc., instead of yourself. Neglecting responsibilities. Crying wolf. Using people.

Uranus symbolizes: The unexpected, things that are individual or 'different'. Charged, energetic dynamics, electricity, light, lightning bolts, sudden changes, those who live on the fringe of society. Sudden turns and twists of fate. Rebellion, surprises, liberation, freedom.

This shows spurring to action when you need to, to rise to occasions that call for a sense of urgency or speed. Perhaps it's time to extract all the energy possible into situations. The “Race” is on, and you may feel that you can make it to the finish, but still are not guaranteed of victory. What efforts do you expend to push you faster and further than the rest of the field? Ensure that you're not expending all your energy too quickly and not really achieving anything of lasting value. Be wary of bolting out of the gate without knowing what your objective is. Needing to win at all costs can have others feeling like you’re not really ‘in the race’ for the 'right reasons'.

Keywords: Competitiveness and high ambitions. Wanting to win, sometimes against the odds. Losing and gaining weight. Weightlessness. Racing to be first at things. Demanding quick flight. Bolting out of the gate. Aggressive desires. Exhilaration. Wanting to better oneself. Being on the home run. Speed and the need for it. Facing forward with great intensity. Rivals and competitors. The value of training. Horsemanship. Discipline. Energy poured into the drive to succeed. Starting whistles, pistols or lights.

The Caution: Galloping at full speed prematurely. Being too ambitious. Ruthless measures. Jumping the gun. Doing anything to win or succeed. Being pushy or single minded. Running out of steam before the finish line. Weight dropping off too quickly. Sabotage or blocking other's efforts. Reigning in energy at the last moment.

Neptune symbolizes: Mystical, "out there," spirituality and con artists. Dreams, mysteries, mystics and religious issues. Intuition, clairvoyance, seeing into the invisible. Addictive, chaotic, charming, deceptive, illusory, co dependent, sensory awareness.

This degree shows being vibrant and alive and in the physical body with enthusiasm and excitement about life and the future. The “Gymnasium Suits” shows the need to get active and to stay active, to have time in your life to drop into the physical body and enjoy it. If you've been neglecting your physical well-being, it is good to reestablish that affinity with your vitality. Spontaneous enthusiasm and the joy of being 'alive' can regenerate and revive and bring about carefree contact with like minded people. The trick is to bring some form of physical discipline into your life while enjoying it and not feeling forced to do what you don’t want to do.

Keywords: Developing muscular coordination. Sexual energy, attraction or satisfaction. Playing, marching, competition, rivalry. Singing songs of unity. New anthems for the young. The search for identity. Being able to accomplish things on the physical level. Physical fitness. Uniforms and uniformity. Gymnasiums. Exercise equipment. Conscription. Being one of many. Learning how to get along with the opposite sex. Bodybuilding. Level playing fields.

The Caution: Physical showing off for sexual attention. Relationships based on purely physical or sexual attraction. Having to do things that one isn't capable of physically doing. Not joining in.

Pluto symbolizes: Unconscious motivation, depth psychology, deep history, transformation, rebirth, power struggles, dominance and domination, the big guys, one's inner sense of personal authority.

This shows the ability, or the need, to be a student, a “Disciple”, or a teacher, a “Master”. At times you’ll find yourself being either one or the other. You may be the teacher or the pupil, but remember that it is often the teacher that learns and the pupil that teaches. This shows taking time for the transfer of higher knowledge and wisdom. It’s also a sign to listen to your own higher wisdom. Someone with something worthwhile to say will usually find someone eager to listen. When you have a need to learn something, it seems that the “Master” will always appear.

Keywords: To give and to receive. Lessons that need to be well learnt. The transfer of knowledge. Taking time to instruct others. Being willing to both teach and learn. Step-by-step lessons. Passing on information. Instructions and directions. Laying down the law with someone. Manuscripts and lessons. Masters. Gurus. Guiding lights. Reinforcement of knowledge, wisdom and spirituality. Listening and learning. Knowing what questions to ask. Doing homework. Being or setting a good example.

The Caution: Dogmatic instruction by rote. Talking down to others, thinking they know less. Someone having a "know it all" attitude. Manipulating people for one's personal agenda. Using knowledge as power over people. Feeling above everyone else. Co-dependant behaviour. One-eyed attitudes. Losing oneself in another.

Chiron symbolizes: Our wounds and it is known as The Wounded Healer, it also shows The Stories That We Tell Ourselves, it is where we have to focus on healing, it can show things that are out of shape or misplaced or in need of repair. Distortions that can lead to deep creativity. The maverick.

'A Canoe is Approaching Safety' implies a time of calm and reassurance ahead. It is coming to 'Safety Through Dangerous Waters'. The way ahead is showing itself and there is an assurance that one is reaching the destination after a difficult or even life-threatening time. The person in the 'Canoe' has probably been through a hair-raising or rough experience, having to shoot the rapids and having to be very adaptable to changing conditions.

Keywords: The calm after the storm. Navigating difficult straits and coming out okay. White-water rafting. Skydiving and other risky activities. Rough waters vs. plain sailing. Recovery. Remission. Light at the end of the tunnel. Personal initiations. Trials of test and defeat. Being stoic. Retaining dignity and graciousness. Exercising care and restraint. Avoiding over exaggerated enthusiasm. Deliverance on many levels. Salvation. Staying on track.

The Caution: Neglecting to take a time to rest. Taking foolhardy risks, believing that all will be okay. Pre-empting situations without completing things in the present. Thinking that "lightning never strikes in the same place twice". Shooting more rapids. Freezing up and not moving.

North Node symbolizes: This is known as quite a 'karmic point' (although all planets and points in a chart can be'karmic'). One's destiny in this life. The things you are meant to integrate, move towards, become. Destined relationships and relationship issues can show up here.

'A Teacher Gives New Symbolic Forms to Traditional Images'. This Symbol shows someone
who can take a thing or a situation and transform and update it. The 'Traditional Images' can be ideas, objects, icons, beliefs; things we are familiar with. That a 'Teacher Gives New Symbolic Forms' shows the ability to restructure, reinterpret and present them more in tune with the times. It indicates a need for a fresh and revitalized perspective on things. This is what Marc Edmund Jones and Elsie Wheeler did with the Sabian Symbol "experiment". This book has taken the Symbols a step further, giving them further depth and insight.

This Symbol implies that you may have ideas or a message to spread, but sometimes we hold back because we think it has all been done before – however, things done by you are best done your own way. Bring out something fresh and new and it will revitalize those concepts and ideas. Looking at things in a different light, you’ll revision old thought forms with new ones. Try to find new solutions to old ideas – you could revolutionize something.

Keywords: New dimensions breaking old thought forms or behavior. Quantum science. Innovation and re-creation. Working with educational tools. Finding new inspiration. Being "ahead of one's time". New-age consciousness. Ideas out of the past for the future. Sticking one's neck out. Rewriting the book.

The Caution: Rejecting old ideas because they are old instead of reforming them. Throwing things of worth out, without examining them. Having little respect for things that are really worthwhile or traditional. Sticking with the tried and true, no matter what. Thinking that no one will be interested in your ideas. Heresy. Dogma.

South Node symbolizes: Past karmic patterns to be overcome, can be habits that are good, but can describe things, relationships, issues that you need to let go of, or, hold you back from manifesting your true destiny. Relationships that feel karmic and difficult, memories from the past.
