If you would like to listen to an audio recording of my observations of this full Moon, you can do so here.

March's full Moon occurs on March 6 in Australia and March 5 in the United States. This full Moon is in Virgo, which can be a rather sober sign, especially when it's on Virgo 15: The Lacy Ornamental Handkerchief. This can be quite a stoic, 'oh, don't worry about me, I'm alright', type of placement, but I think there are so many other things going on that belie the surface values of this Virgoan lunation. This is a rather Chironic full Moon with Chiron conjunct the Sun and opposing the Moon - the Sun is at Pisces 15, Chiron is on Pisces 18 and the Moon is on Virgo 15, so, both the Moon and then the Sun aspect Chiron soon after the full Moon. This interesting and rather rebellious Virgo full Moon leads up to the total solar eclipse on March 20, which is a fabulous eclipse and brings a promise of many new beginnings, new realizations and opportunities. First, though, we have a few issues to work through with this full Moon.

I say that this is a rather rebellious full Moon because Mars is smack on the south node in Aries - which signals letting go of many things from the past, and these two are conjunct (conjunct means 'together with') Uranus and Venus and square Pluto. What this means is that a lot of things are set to change... this is a time for letting go, for moving on and sorting out what and who you are taking into the future with you. You won't want to be taking those aspects of your past that are no longer working - they certainly won't work unless there's a major revolution and things fall into very different places than they are now.

The full Moon is on Virgo 15: A FINE LACE ORNAMENTAL HANDKERCHIEF. The following is from my book The Sabian Oracle: 360 Degrees Of Wisdom

A 'Fine Lace Ornamental Handkerchief' is a beautiful, soft, lacy image. A 'Lace Handkerchief' is an extremely feminine and personal possession associated with perfume, tears, and matters of the heart. Since medieval times, women have given their loved ones, their men, this small token of their love and commitment before they went into battle or traveled abroad. The scent of the "fabric" and the care and loving that have gone into the crafting of it give a sense of security and being remembered and loved. We are often amazed by how much attention to detail, care and thought goes into making something so beautiful, small and delicate. Even small gifts can bring a sense of love and care; they can become very sentimental. The smallest tokens of our past can bring us a sense of security and joy.

You may be feeling the want for love and the need for someone in your life. You may need to relax a little in order to invite others in. The feeling of being lost and left behind can be relieved with the touch of fabric, a whiff of perfume, etc; these can be a reminder of people or events past. Warm, sentimental feelings can be expressed, or poured out, showing tenderness and care. Carrying a beautiful lace handkerchief might be a nice way to remind yourself of your true sense of worth and beauty. However, this type of ‘Handkerchief’, being made of ‘Lace’, is not really suited for too many tears, as it can be more of an ornament that a true ‘Handkerchief’. Hence, there can be a sense of false emotion evident with this Symbol. Sometimes we get upset about things that needn’t really upset us, or we put on an emotional show because we feel it’s expected of us. Being wound up and constantly “upset” or demanding emotional attention can put people off. Staying true to your emotions and remembering your self-worth may be very important now.

Keywords: Delicacy of feeling. Attention to detail. Winning awards through valour. Hypersensitivity. Looking but not touching. Overdressing. Appearing too delicate to truly enjoy life. Make up and accessories. Fragility. Old things of lace and beauty. Refinement. Small gifts given with deep feeling.

The Caution: The artificial sob story. False sympathy. Lack of emotions, stone-cold responses. Asking for love when in reality one doesn't really want it. Impractical belongings. Things that get shunted aside as irrelevant, unworthy or unusable. Things of little use in today's world. Mass manufacturing. Things made in sweatshops.

Moon symbolizes: Emotions, moods, mother, family, clan, domestic issues, relationship to home and country. Feelings, sentiments, nourishment, emotional nurturing, monkey chatter mind, lunar and menstrual cycles, clarity of emotions or lunacy. Female energy - yours and others.

The Karmic Degree for the Moon is Virgo 14: FINELY LETTERED NAMES AND MYSTERIOUS LINES ARE SEEN; IT IS A FAMILY TREE. This Symbol brings up issues to do with family - who belongs in the family, who doesn't, who is a relation, who is an acquaintance. Of course, some friends feel more like family than our family do. We can have issues or events with family members when this degree is around. We may be looking at our family tree, analysing where we came from, thinking about our roots, ancestry, origins, etc. This Symbol gives the impression that the 'Family Tree' is beautifully designed and mapped out. The 'Tree' has branches with names connecting to more and more names as it goes back through the family history. There is often a sense of nostalgia and grandeur with 'Family Trees'. Many people are fascinated, and sometimes amazed, by looking back to their forefathers; where they came from, and who their close relations were. Some members of the 'Family' will see the relevance and importance of the history and the 'Mystery' of the 'Family' lineage; meanwhile others may not even bother to look.

Keywords: Strength in tradition. Belonging to a lineage. The story of where one comes from. Issues of pride of heritage. The importance of parents and family. Branches in databases. Having strong and secure roots. Origins and their relevance to today's life. Ancestors. Calligraphy. Fine pens. Filling in the gaps. Adoptions. Step families. Pedigrees. Kin. Genealogy. Inheritance. Family Bibles.

The Caution: Disassociation or disconnection from family history. Exclusivity or snobbery. Feeling like an alien. Feeling, or being, a stranger in a strange world. Orphans. Not knowing where one came from. Being stuck with people you don't know. Examining roots. Missing identities. Skeletons in the closet.

Conjuncting the Moon is the Dark Moon Lilith on Virgo 11: A Boy Moulded In His Mother's Aspirations For Him. This speaks about the feeling or the need or the rejection of the push to live up to the aspirations of one's parents, or, it can point to wanting to live up to your own hopes and dreams, particularly as it's Lilith here.

Sometimes in life, the danger of things is overstated, exaggerated or overestimated and it looks like all hell is going to break loose at any minute. However, there is often wisdom in practising being on the alert to reduce the chance of error or failure when a real 'Attack' comes along. Putting on a show of strength in order to put off threats from the outside can help promote feelings of safety and solidarity. However, we can be going over and over things in our minds, leading to worry and stagnation if we become too afraid to act. A key phrase of this degree is very much 'the sky is falling!'. Chiron recently spent some weeks on this degree - we are often hearing how we are going to be attacked, or we're going to go broke, or, our world is going to fall apart. The vast majority of the time it doesn't happen. Although it is good to feel prepared for possibilities that we need to be well trained for - remember -

Worrying is like praying for things you don't want.

Keywords: Taking orders to better respond to situations. The higher self training the lower self. Exercises. Marching and going through the motions. The need for defence. Seeing ahead. Planning strategies. Fire drills. Smoke alarms. Being prepared. Issuing orders and expecting them to be followed through. Discipline. Martial arts of all kinds. Going over and over possible outcomes. Safeguards put in place. Gas masks and bomb shelters.

The Caution: Rigid routine for no real or valuable purpose. Feeling that one has always to be on the defensive. Being under attack, whether real or imagined. Overreacting to things. Feelings of unworthiness in the face of battle or confrontation. Victim consciousness. Fearful responses. Getting others to respond through spreading fear. Scare tactics.

The Sun symbolizes: One’s core centre, spirit, heart, issues to do with father, men, self, ego, your male side. How you radiate your sense of being. What others see, how you are recognized or remembered, sense of identity and connection with male energy.

'A Large White Dove Bearing a Message' shows messages of peace and love. The 'Dove' is a symbol of innocence, gentleness and affection; also, in art and in the Scriptures, it is the typical symbol of the Holy Ghost. When Jesus was baptised, the Holy Ghost descended in the shape of a 'Dove'. It also symbolizes the soul and as such is sometimes represented coming out of the mouths of saints at death. 'Doves' are a symbol of inspiration and divine guidance. A caged 'Dove' signifies the human soul imprisoned in the flesh and held captive during the period of mortal life. They can represent peace and in this Symbol the 'Large White Dove is Bearing a Message'. The 'Dove' brought to Noah a bough of an olive-tree as a sign that the deluge of wrath that was unleashed by the flood was over. Further 'Doves' are said to be able to perform miracles with their 'Messages'.

This Symbol, particularly as Mercury - the Messenger Of The Gods - is on it, is saying a message will be delivered, or messages need to be delivered, that all is OK. All will be good.

Keywords: Being seen as a saviour or one who needs saving. Blessings delivered—all will be well. Celebration. Somebody who brings blessed relief. Issues of hope and salvation. The Covenant. News. Announcements. Peace movements. The Rainbow Warrior. Utopian idealism. Olive branches.

The Caution: Staying with the assumption that things will never improve. Refusing solace. Shooting the messenger. Not trusting the good things in life. Not being content with any message that's relayed. Insincere messages caused by the pain of not facing the real truth.

Mercury symbolizes: Mind, thought, communication, memory, expression, intelligence. News, exchanges, chatting, conversations, short journeys, connections with others, telephones, emails, siblings, neighbours, the reasoning mind. Day-to-day activities. Cars, keys, small animals.

'A Woman Disappointed and Disillusioned' is an image of apparent sadness and loss. She is putting on a brave face, even though it may feel to her that she doesn't have much of a future. This could really be just a matter of perception and expectations. Perhaps there are some, or indeed many, things that she could be grateful for, but some areas of her life are unfulfilled and not working. Perhaps there are no children, no relationship or something has been lost. What message is 'The Dove' bringing? What hope and love can be stirred up in your soul from the message of the dove?

Keywords: Breaking through illusions. Facing stark reality with hope. Loneliness and depression overcome. Positive outlooks. Counting one's blessings. Looking towards the future. Having to battle through relationship losses while maintaining a sense of self and purpose. Turning points reached. Having a belief in miracles. Choosing joy.

The Caution: Wallowing in failure. Not seeing the joy and beauty of one's life. Accepting defeat. Feeling like all is lost. Bitterness. Walling one's self off from others. Not trusting people. Finding nothing to be happy about. Feeling deserted and alone. Not letting go of the past. Injuries. Infertility. Incurable "dis-eases". Unrequited love. The loss of the partner. Staring into space. Being a sad, old person.

Venus is on Aries 16: BRIGHTLY CLAD BROWNIES DANCING IN THE WARM DYING LIGHT is a wonderful and rather mischievous image. 'Brownies' are nature spirits that come to help us with our work. The concept of 'Brownies' has existed in many cultures for a long time. They lived with humans and sometimes they were said to live in the attic. They often helped the humans in the kitchen; they got the fire going by blowing on it, took care of the children and saw that the food was properly cooked. But nowadays, with the use of electric machines and lights, 'Brownies' are disappearing more and more. However it is said some of them still try to stay around. Although mostly associated with housework, we can call on their help in many different ways. Nature spirits are often around us, particularly if we believe in them, welcome them and trust in their presence. They are 'Dancing in the Warm Dying Light' inferring that while intuitive powers are at a real high, the available physical energy is not; it is sunset, and the close of the day. Believe in help and help will arrive, particularly as Venus is on this degree.

Venus is conjuncting the Moon's south node, Mars and Uranus, and, is squaring Pluto and there are likely to be many changes made around our priorities, values, relationships, issues with money, resources, etc. This is a big time for Venus, a time of change and adjustments, and, it's leading up to a much better time after the coming new Moon when we get to move more towards what we do want after coming to terms with what we don't want (or can't have).

Keywords: Revelling in nature. Believing in guides. Fairies and nature spirits. The wonder and awe of nature. The setting sun. Last minute preparations before evening. The psychic magic of dusk. Light that dances. Unseen guardians. Receiving guidance and help. Seeing the invisible. Help at the last minute. Fairy godmothers. Questions of: what is the "real" world?

The Caution: Self-delusions. Missing the true picture of what's happening in the "real-world". Losing the plot. Relying on others, including angels, nature spirits, etc., instead of yourself. Neglecting responsibilities. Crying wolf. Using people.

Venus symbolizes: Relatedness, cooperation, what attracts you. The experience of sweetness, beauty or delight. Social interactions, love, friends, how you reach out to people. Feminine persona, relationship with mother and females. Money, possessions, sense of values - what you long for.

'Two Prim Spinsters' are shown 'Sitting Together in Silence'. This Symbol shows people that know and understand each other, without the need for chatter. Feelings of contentment can come in time spent with a special friend, someone who you feel completely at ease with. A real sense of understanding of what the other is feeling and thinking can be a central quality of strong companionship. Of course, the 'Two Spinsters' may not be together through choice, but rather through life situations. There might be a need to open up to others, or to one special person - perhaps things that should have been said have not been said.

Keywords: The need to loosen up emotional blockages. The struggle to hold onto one's original identity. Compromise because of social expectations. Meditations that communicate. Exclusive relationships. Relationships that have a quiet "knowing". Dignified silence. Inner withdrawal. Communicating through body language.

The Caution: Emotional isolation. Refusing to accept relationship. Pretending to be someone that one is not. Disapproval of younger, more vital energies. Being fussy and judgmental. Chattering that is not conducive to growth or true relating. Gossip. Difficulty in communicating. Being shutoff, or shutdown. The loss of joy and spontaneity.

Mars and the Moon's south node are both on Aries 11: THE PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OR THE RULER OF ONE'S COUNTRY

'The President' or the 'Ruler' pictures a person who's in control, has a sense of authority and is called upon to do the right thing for his people, his 'Country' and indeed, his position or office. This 'President' or 'Ruler' has the right, and the duty, to call the shots in their territory or sphere of operation. Mars and the south node here are asking that we take control of our own lives - be in charge!

Keywords: Developing willpower. Inner power, discipline and integrity. Discipline of thoughts, emotions and actions. Leadership, power and ability along with their responsibilities. Accepting responsibility for one's actions. "Calling the shots". Rulers, presidents, leaders. Taking charge. The need for loyal subjects. Being voted in. The democratic process.

The Caution: Taking control. Lording it over everyone. Being overbearing. Not allowing others to be in charge of their own lives, health or situation. Egotistical and self-centered. Undermining others through a lack of self-awareness or confidence. Being larger than life. Dictators and tyrants. Military Governments.

Mars symbolizes: : Drive, determination or agenda, how you get to your goals. How you express and handle anger, ambition, assertion of self and ability to step forward. The male principle, sexuality, the ability to step up to the plate when one needs to. Fight or flight.

The South Node symbolizes: Past karmic patterns to be overcome, can be habits that are good, but can describe things, relationships, issues that you need to let go of, or, hold you back from manifesting your true destiny. Relationships that feel karmic and difficult, memories from the past.

The 'Street Pageant' is seen 'Moving Along a Street Packed With People'. People really enjoy a  'Street Pageant' or a carnival, they get together to celebrate their community, even if they aren't directly involved in what's being celebrated. Just watching the 'Street Pageant' can inspire fun, joy and even a sense of pride as people come out to watch and enjoy. Jupiter here can show street parades and getting out and amongst people. It's curious and fun that Sydney's Gay Mardi Gras is on this coming weekend.

Keywords: Demonstrations of joy. Spectacular shows of solidarity. Ticker-tape parades. Community celebrations of victory or faith. Food and drink stalls. Mardi gras and gay pride parades. Being a participant or an observer. Having a following. Gaiety and spectacle. Performers, musicians, magicians. Street stalls. Traffic management. The mob. Lots of people. Cul-de-sacs. Carnivals.

The Caution: Egocentric displays. Blowing one's trumpet. Closing off some areas of life, overplaying others. Problems with neighbors or people. Displays with little warmth or genuine communal feelings. Feeling like sardines in a can. Noisy neighborhoods. Loud music that annoys. Disruptive behavior. Hooligans and louts. Looting. Lack of privacy and quiet. Garbage on the street. Barriers between people.

Jupiter symbolizes: The big picture, expansion, exploration, aspirations, religious and philosophical ideals, issues to do with traveling, foreign lands, people and traditions, culture, education, generosity, luck, abundance, support, optimism. Insight through knowledge and wisdom.

Saturn is on Sagittarius 5: AN OLD OWL PERCHED HIGH UP IN A TREE. With the ability to twist his head right around, the wise 'Old Owl' sees all, seeing what others miss, and keeps very quiet whilst digesting all that is going on. Even though they appear to sit quietly, the 'Owl' is able to quickly snare its prey

in the flash of a moment. The 'Old Owl' pictured here is 'Perched High Up in a Tree'; he is far from the tumult at ground level and is out of reach from most predators. He can observe wide vistas below him and watch for prey. Owls also have incredible sense of hearing, pinpointing sounds accurately. This Symbol can show the need to wait to speak, to take in all the available information that's floating around before committing yourself to saying or writing things that you can't take back.

Keywords: Wisdom and strength. Evening contemplation. Keeping thoughts to oneself. A wise "sage" type of person. Nocturnal vision. Exalted wisdom. "Night owls". Heightened sight and seeing. Being silent and alert for the slightest movement. The ability to see all around. The spirit of birds. Silent flight. Having acute hearing. Lofty ideals.

The Caution: Smug denial of available wisdom. Someone thinking they know it all. Not wanting to join in with others in fun activities. Acting old before their time. Excluding others as being frivolous and unknowing. Waiting for one's prey. Black magic. Being old before one's time. Always being alone. Remote and cut off. Sitting isolated. Saying nothing when one should be saying something. Inability to sleep soundly.

Saturn symbolizes: Authority, rules, discipline and obligation The heavy stuff. What we fear, loss, karma, aging, the establishment, orthodoxy, tradition, status, the concept of time, walls, boundaries, limits, older people, restrictions, patience, conquering difficulties.

'An Indian Weaving a Blanket' shows that people need to take time out to do the things that aren't particularly exciting or rewarding on a large scale, but do, however, provide feelings of contentment, warmth, safety and security. In 'Weaving the Blanket', the 'Indian' not only creates something that is useful, but weaves into it images of their life and history. Often the patterns and pictures woven into it easily identify the tribe this 'Blanket' comes from. Being 'In the Light of the Setting Sun', there may be a feeling of the energy of the light, the 'Sun', fading, leaving little time to achieve what needs to be done. What are you doing for a living? What are you spending your time doing? What do you perhaps want to be doing?

Keywords: The fabric of one's being. Traditional pastimes and skills. Weaving security and independence. Patience and gentle handcrafting. Stories, especially those handed down. Tales and traditions. Consideration of one's unique history. Weaving, spinning looms. The warp and weft of life. One's life story—past and present. Being focused on one's tasks. Colours, dyes. Threads.

The Caution: Underestimating skills of self- expression in comparison with intellectual skills. Allowing dull routines to overcome. Feeling one hasn't got much to contribute. Inability to apply to routine and necessary tasks. Being too "full-time" about one's work. Feeling insecure no matter what the situation. Selling off one's integrity. Finding that it's too late in the day to get anything done. Not knowing when to stop.

Uranus symbolizes: The unexpected, things that are individual or 'different'. Charged, energetic dynamics, electricity, light, lightning bolts, sudden changes, those who live on the fringe of society. Sudden turns and twists of fate. Rebellion, surprises, liberation, freedom.

Neptune is on Pisces 8: A GIRL BLOWING A BUGLE

'A Girl Blowing a Bugle' brings to mind someone performing reveille; the 'Bugle' call used in the armed forces announcing that it is time to "rise and shine". This Symbol can show the need to make announcements, to say things - to awaken yourself or others.

Keywords: Sounding the call. Awakening all to action. Going on and on about something. Loudspeakers, telephones, announcements. Being prepared to state one's case. Calling attention to one's self. Blowing your own trumpet. Whistleblowers. Heralding and proclaiming the dawn. Rise and shine! Girls in a man's world. Leading the charge. Resurrection. Mass announcements. Advertising campaigns. Alarm clocks. Ear plugs. Blind folds. Break the fast. Proclamations.

The Caution: Making unwarranted and disturbing noise. Showing off. Unbalanced messages. Evangelists and politicians. Sounding the call but not making the grade. Being annoying. Trumpeting about one's achievements. Not listening to people.

Neptune symbolizes: Mystical, "out there," spirituality and con artists. Dreams, mysteries, mystics and religious issues. Intuition, clairvoyance, seeing into the invisible. Addictive, chaotic, charming, deceptive, illusory, co dependent, sensory awareness.

'School Grounds Filled With Boys and Girls in Gymnasium Suits' brings to mind images of youthful people, doing their exercises, playing with and enjoying each other on a physical level. The 'Boys and Girls' learn how to interact with each other in the 'School Grounds'. There is the sense that they are having fun, regardless of their individual level of fitness. Some will be very good at sports and be the stars in the 'Gym' whilst others are there because they want to join in the fun or because they are instructed to be there and have no choice. Many of their relationship lessons are first learnt here. Pluto here can have us thinking about getting back into our physical bodies. Being Pluto, it is also dredging up issues to do with sexual abuse and domestic violence - something that has usually long been swept under the carpet. A lot of stories are now coming to light, hopefully for a healing after a long time of repression.

Keywords: Developing muscular coordination. Sexual energy, attraction or satisfaction. Playing, marching, competition, rivalry. Singing songs of unity. New anthems for the young. The search for identity. Being able to accomplish things on the physical level. Physical fitness. Uniforms and uniformity. Gymnasiums. Exercise equipment. Conscription. Being one of many. Learning how to get along with the opposite sex. Bodybuilding. Level playing fields.

The Caution: Physical showing off for sexual attention. Relationships based on purely physical or sexual attraction. Having to do things that one isn't capable of physically doing. Not joining in.

Pluto symbolizes: Unconscious motivation, depth psychology, precinct of deep history.

'In a Huge Tent a Famous Revivalist Conducts His Meeting With a Spectacular Performance'. This pictures somebody who has the ability to get people up and going on a spiritual, emotional and physical level. Words of hope and redemption and the giving of one's self to higher purposes and goals are delivered. He works hard to ensure that his words strike the minds and hearts of those listening. Singing and dancing can erupt out of people in celebration. This is largely the result of the passion of the 'Famous Revivalist' and the audience may be very inspired by the occasion with people joining in, in some way.

Keywords: Energy and inspiration. Evangelism. Whipped up emotions. Having a lot to say. Being instructional and dogmatic about how things should be. Being in charge. Ecstasy. Loud voices. Conversations that are said out loud. Acoustics affecting sounds. Preaching. Mind control. Performing. Political, religious and spiritual activism. Showmanship. Transformative experiences. Captivated audiences. The media circus.

The Caution: Using spiritualism for greedy financial gain. Overblown feelings of one's abilities. Big egos. Hysteria. People whipped-up and manipulated by those in charge. Having the agenda of controlling others. Feeling that one has all the answers. Getting het-up about ideals and beliefs. Manipulation and exploitation. Bigotry.

Chiron symbolizes: Our wounds and it is known as The Wounded Healer, it also shows The Stories That We Tell Ourselves, it is where we have to focus on healing, it can show things that are out of shape or misplaced or in need of repair.

A 'Professor' is 'Peering Over His Glasses at His Students'. His eyes have been strained over the years from doing close-up work with books and papers and now he needs 'Glasses' for reading and studying. The rational mind requires a different kind of "lens" to that of the emotion or intuition. When the 'Professor' moves his gaze or attention to 'His Students', he needs to use a different focus. He 'Peers Over His Glasses' to look at them and to see them as they truly are. If he observes them through the same intellectual "lenses" he uses for his study, he may neglect to see them as individuals with their own abilities and needs, and their human attributes will get lost in the process.

How are you seeing your life? How are you seeing yourself? How are you seeing others?

Keywords: Lenses of perception. Seeing that others get the message. Intellectual snobbery. Photography. Lenses as shields or barriers between people or things. Observing others. Examining one's self. Understanding where you're looking. Giving advice. Teachers. Professors. The ability to "read others". Motivations or talents of others seen and appreciated.

The Caution: Assuming a superior position. Thinking others have a lesser position or intelligence. Reading endless self-help books and not noticing real life. Bossing others. Not seeing, or caring to notice, one's own faults and limitations. Feeling separate from what's being said or taught. Distortions of perception or observation. Condescending behavior. Seeing people as interruptions.

North Node symbolizes: This is known as quite a 'karmic point' (although all planets and points in a chart can be'karmic'). One's destiny in this life. The things you are meant to integrate, move towards, become. Destined relationships and relationship issues can show up here.

This is a big full Moon and this is a long newsletter. They seem to be getting longer - I am wanting to cut them down, but they seem to have a life of their own. I hope you enjoy them - they take a long time to write up!

Hi Lynda,

Absolutely enjoy your observations of the interpretation of Sabian symbols. I read all your articles.

This full Moon is, a big one indeed. Much clearing and healing. But for me does not feel like an initial stage. Well, duh as just now saying this is the realization is a final culmination, in cycle with the Moon, in a sense to several years.

I think the New Moon in a few weeks along with the final (7th) Uranus Pluto square aspect really holds the potential through awareness to be a beautiful blessed new beginning for most of us.

Best to you, and all this season of Lent.

In Appreciation,
