When we think of Earth, we may see a beautiful blue planet floating through space: a sphere of matter orbiting the star we call the sun. A beautiful image, but also a view of the Earth from a materialistic point of view.
The ability to be grateful is a characteristic of happy people. People who lack this ability will often focus on things which aren’t going well. If they do not find it in the present, they will find something in the past that they are angry at, or something that might go wrong in the future.
I somewhat compare living and dying to the life of a caterpillar that undergoes the process of becoming a butterfly. Throughout life you are like a caterpillar, you crawl around and have no idea of the butterfly that you are in your essence.
